General info on the event for media

The Jukola relay is a top orienteering event, and the results and athmosphere interest people both in Finland and abroad. The competition centre of Jämsä-Jukola lies in the Myllymäki area in Jämsänkoski, Jämsä. This is the first Jukola organised near Jämsä since 1978, when the relay took place in Halli, Kuorevesi. The event in question was historical, as the very first Venla relay was competed that very year.

Many years have passed since then, as the 2013 Jukola relay is the 65th race and Venlas will run for the 36th time.

The Jukola relay is not only the biggest orienteering relay in the world, but also the biggest sports event in Finland. We sure hope there will be a tough race for the victory, for which approximately 15 000 orienteers will battle.

Do you want some information about Jämsä-Jukola?

While the orienteers look for the controls in the forest, the media is working hard. Our communication team will operate before, during and after the competition in order to make the work of media representatives as easy as possible. A major part of our work is to inform about organising the event. These websites offer the bulletins. Signing up for the media email list enables sending the bulletins also in your email. For more information and latest news please email  Mikko Lindroos on mikko.lindroos@jukola.com.
