The Field Manager promises that the structures are fine

The Fiel Manager Reima Taipale

Last preparations for Jämsä-Jukola are made on Friday. It rains at the moment but field manager Reima Taipale isn’t worried. Interviewing is luckily possible in the media tent which is near the finish area. ‒ I feel confident and I think everything will work. For our part everything was already ready in rehearsal on Wednesday, says Taipale.

Builders won’t surely be vain since near the competition there are many requests which they haven’t been able to prepare for despite the careful planning. Reima has been working for the event since December in 2011. He describes shortly his job with these words: ‒ Million things must be organized in the event in a right time. These ”million things” include building every structure in the area, excluding the indoor skating rink. For instance they’ve built fence that is 1.5 kilometers long and one kilometer of it contains advertisements. They’ve also put about 1.5 kilometers water pipes and built tent, sauna and shower areas. Taipale, who’s working for Finnish Defence Forces, says that Jämsä-Jukola is a good counterbalance for his everyday job. The same organizing skills are needed in both jobs. He considers the team spirit among the volunteers good.

‒We’ve had a group that has four members and it has had the greatest responsibility. In addition to me, the group has three persons: Kari Riekki, Jari Harju and Matti Järvelä. We all have had equally significant role. There are 81 names in the name list of the commission, as the objective was 60 names. Particularly the amount of the work that the most active volunteers had done has been excellent. ‒We started working on April the 20th and some men have been here every day.
