Rovaniemi, known as the Official Hometown of Santa Claus, is a popular international tourist destination that is easy to reach by plane, train, coach or car. There are scheduled flights to Rovaniemi from Helsinki, and trains from across Finland will take you there. Rovaniemi Airport is located app. 10 km outside the city center.
Take a train:
VR (the national railway company) has published the train timetables for summer 2020. Tickets will be available in February 2020 for individuals and groups (10+ people).
Trains from south (eg. from Helsinki):
The night trains arrive at Rovaniemi from Mon-Sun at 7.32am and 11.05am,
daytime trains arrive Mon-Sun at 2.16pm, at 4.46pm and at 8.22pm (Note that there’s no train on 8.22pm on Saturday!) and at 10.48pm.

Tip! Arctic Circle Jukola competition center will be opened already on Thursday 11th of June 2020 at 4pm – Arrive in good time on Wednesday night by train!

Finnair and Norwegian fly to Rovaniemi all year round. The good news is, Finnair has added two extra flights for Friday 12th June 2020 and one for Saturday 13th June 2020. These extra flights will departure from Helsinki on Friday at 12.30am and 3.05pm and on Saturday at 6.55am. At the moment, we don’t have information about extra return flights, but we will keep you informed. In addition to these, there are multiple daily flights operating Helsinki-Rovaniemi on a regular basis.

You can also check flights to Oulu (Finland) or Luleå (Sweden) and rent a bus for your team from there. It’s only 3 hours drive from both these cities to Rovaniemi.
Ride a coach:
At the Arctic Circle Jukola, the competition centre is located on the Mäntyvaara horseracing track. Whether you arrive from the north or the south, you can’t miss the signs for the competition centre along Highway 4.
