Jukola Relay 2015 is called Louna-Jukola

Jukola Relay 2015, organized by Turun Suunnistajien and Paimion Rasti, is called Louna-Jukola.  13th and 14th of June in 2015 thousands of orienteers come to Paimio, a small city close to Turku. Competition area will be near Paimio city center, on southern side of E18 motorway.

In a press briefing held at Turku city hall thursday 30th November 2015, representatives from both Paimio and Turku emphasized the importance of the happening for the area, not only as a sport event but also for tourism.

– Louna-Jukola is definitely the most important happening in the city in 2015. For city it is a pleasure to take apart in organization, states Paimio city major Jari Jussinmäki.

– Jukolan Viesti will bring positive publicity for the whole Turku area and the event fits perfectly into an ongoing project the develop sports culture in Turku area. Turku city wants to support this major event, says Minna Arve as a chairman of Turku city government.

Last time Jukola Relay was run in Paimio in 1993, then organized by Paimion Rasti. 1972 Turun Suunnistajat organized the relay in the very same terrain as the relay will be run in 2015. Then there was first time more than 400 teams participating the relay. You can check out the 1972 competition map online.
