The competition center takes its shape bit by bit

It’s still pretty empty in the competition center area of Louna-Jukola, but gradually different structures are starting to rise, thus altering the area into a bit more “Jukola-like”. One of the central structures, the over-40-meter-long temporary bridge, was erected last week by officer cadets of the main sponsor, Defence Forces. The bridge is lent by the Finnish Transport Agency and works also as a training instrument for the Defence Forces.

The exact location of the bridge needed to be carefully adjusted as a power line goes over the place. Finally, a workable location also fulfilling safety regulations was found.

– Of other structures, the base of the festival stage is ready. Cabling work is still underway. So far, for example, a couple of kilometers of optical fiber have been drawn on the area, says Kassu Grönlund, in charge of structures in Jukola.

Next to be erected are, among others, the rest the festival stage as well as the numerous fences, many of which are equipped with ready-made supporting legs. A part of the structures will have to wait for their turn, since the centrally located driving practice track will be in its normal use until the end of May, and the kart racing track – working as the wind shelter area in Jukola – will not be closed until after the preceding weekend.

In addition, a cleanup of the competition center was carried out last weekend. The area was pruned and tidied up, and also the route to the K point located a bit further away was cleared out of shrubs and branches.
