Have a safe journey back home

Be careful in traffic when driving back home. If you haven’t had enough sleep, you may feel as though you are drunk and you are a danger to yourself as well as others. Willpower isn’t enough to overcome tiredness. For example, after being awake for 20 hours your brain starts to sleep without your permission and takes the rest it needs.

Try to recognize the symptoms of tiredness. Stop your car and have a rest if you yawn continuously, or if your eyes feel tired and you cannot keep them open. If you notice that you have driven automatically like a robot or if you cannot remember the scenes you have just passed, you should also stop.

If you feel tired and you have to drive, take a nap, have a cup of coffee or a Coke or a few pieces of dark chocolate to give yourself a caffeine boost.

If you feel tired during the trip, a 10-20-minute nap may help, especially after having a snack. Caffeine kicks in after a while.

Don’t use the cruise contol either when tired. Don’t hurry – take your time. Also be polite to other road users. Remember that it is summer and there is no reason to hurry.

Have a safe journey home!
