There was a tense moment in the Venla relay after the first leg. The first control punch couldn’t be found on last year’s winning team’s EMIT card. Fortunately, the backup slip saved the day and Emma Klingenberg left the Wailing Wall visibly relieved.

Timo Tuovinen promises that all the competitors will get equal treatment at the Wailing Wall.

Whilst present-day systems make the job of the officials so much easier, sometimes checking the backup slip at the Wailing Wall is the only salvation if the electronic punching system fails for some reason.
